Provincial Energy Incentives
Home Energy Savings Program (HESP)
The Home Energy Savings Program is a low-income grant opportunity available to Newfoundland & Labrador residents who earn an annual income of less than $32,000 per year. The grant is worth a maximum of $5,000 and can only be used towards the energy efficiency upgrades identified through an energy inspection by the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC).
Utility Energy Incentives
Newfoundland Power and NL Hydro takeCHARGE Porgram
The takeCharge Program is a joint incentive offered by Newfoundland Power and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro to help homeowners in the province decrease the cost of various energy efficiency upgrades. The program is currently available for:
- Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV)
- Insulation Upgrades
- + More
The takeCHARGE program also features several non-cash incentives such as the MyHome Web Portal which gives homeowners access to tools, tips, and energy experts to help reduce overall energy usage.
Federal & Other Energy Incentives
Energyhub.org Solar Cash Incentive
The Solar Cash Incentive offered by energyhub.org can be claimed in addition to any rebate program offered on this page. The total rebate amount is relatively small ($152), but it’s super easy to claim.
Federal Tax Provision for Clean Energy Equipment
The Federal Tax Provision for Clean Energy Equipment is a tax policy offered through the federal government that allows Canadian businesses to fully expense their clean energy equipment purchases (solar included). This means a CCA rate of 100% and the abolishment of the first year rule.
Please visit National Resources Canada for more solar and energy incentives for business and commercial applications in Newfoundland.
